  2. Royal Ascot 15:40 Lady Bowthorpe Beat several of these when coming out on top in Dahlia at Newmarket on return before excellent second in Lockinge at Newbury, clear of rest. The one to beat on that form. Has 3 lb penalty. Ripon 19:30 Excel Power 3 wins from 5 runs this year. 5/2, 8 lengths last of 5 to Mitrosonfire in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to firm) 9 days ago, restless beforehand. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Could get back on the up.

  4. Beverley 18:40 Judicial Smart gelding. 3-time C&D winner. Sixteen wins from 42 Flat runs. 6¼ lengths eighth of 9 to Lazuli in Palace House Stakes at Newmarket (5f, good to firm, 9/1) 45 days ago. Should go close. 20:10 Act Of Magic 5/1, creditable third of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Yard is in excellent form and he makes plenty of appeal.
  5. Last week

Nottingham 20:50 Nakeeta Ended a long losing sequence at Ayr in September and has run creditably in defeat both starts this term. Respected.
  7. Doncaster 16:15 Akkeringa Upped his form when second of 9 in maiden at Yarmouth, form that's backed up by the time, and every chance the race came too soon when disappointing in a handicap there next time. Worth another chance.
  8. Newton Abbot 20:50 Luckello Has a reasonable pedigree and wasn't at all disgraced when fourth of 10 at Southwell first time out. Capable of better with the benefit of experience.
  9. Sandown 14:45 Celestial Queen Decisive winner of 1m Redcar handicap on return in April and found just one too good at Ripon next time. Best to draw a line through her last run and she's high on the shortlist.
  10. Nottingham 15:20 Soyounique Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap (2/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 23 days ago, not ideally placed. Yet to fully prove himself on turf.

  14. Leicester 16:00 Sir Taweel Winner at Windsor in April. 9/2, good fourth of 10 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good) 7 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Should be in the mix off the same mark back at 7f.
  15. Goodwood 14:20 Grey Fox Much improved fitted with this headgear when making a winning return at Windsor. Might have found soft ground against him at Leicester next time and worth another chance. Kilbeggan 14:25 Ruaille Buaille Useful hurdler. 11/1, below form fifteenth of 24 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f, good to soft) 40 days ago. Clearly the one to beat if back on her game.
  16. Epsom 14:00 King Frankel Small-field maiden win at Pontefract backed up by the clock and he found only a good prospect too strong on handicap debut at Newbury 3 weeks ago. 6 lb rise to deal with but he can be a factor. 15:10 Century Dream Won this race in 2018 and 2020 (run at Newbury. Added to his pattern-race is in Group 2 Celebration at Goodwood last August. Well held in Lockinge on return but much respected back in calmer waters.
